Since the conductive tin oxide coating of the glass is delicate, we need to protect it. We use a transparent plastic sheet to accomplish this. The plastic sheet is approximately 3/4" larger than the glass plate on all sides.

Run a continuous thin bead of clear silicone adhesive around the edge of the glass plate, on top of the copper foil, as shown in Figure 3.9. Center the plastic sheet on top of the glass plate, see Figure 3.10. Then place the plastic sheet on top of the glass plate. Place a book or flat object on top of the glass and the plastic sheet to hold the assembly flat and together while the silicone cures. Curing time for the silicone is approximately 12 - 24 hours.
